Bourses break winning streak

DHAKA, Sept 9, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the Stocks today closed
trading snapping a five-day winning streak as the risk-averse
investors rushed for bagging quick-profit on selective issues.

At the premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the broad index,
DSEX settled at 4971.68 points on Wednesday with a loss of 6.63 points
or 0.13 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah
index, DSES also went down by 7.32 points and 3.75 points to settle at
1726.90 points and 1146.44 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 211,967 trades were
executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 367.34
million securities.

On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the
market, stood at Taka 10.77 billion from Taka 11.90 billion in the
previous session.

Gainers took lead over losers as out of 355 issues traded, 165
securities gained price while 147 declined and 43 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,763 billion which was
Taka 3,756 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Asia Pacific Insurance, Paramount Textile,
Pravati Insurance, Agrani Insurance, Fine Foods, International
Leasing, Asia Insurance, Islami Insurance, Mercantile Insurance and
Eastland Insurance.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco
Limited, Brac Bank, Delta Brac Housing, Square Pharma, Orion Pharma,
Grameenphone, BD Finance, Fu-Wang Food and Summit Power.

The top ten losers were Pragati Life Insurance, Shyampur Sugar, Jute
Spinners, Zeal Bangla Sugar, Savar Refractories, Imam Button, Aftab
Auto, Zahin Tex, Matin Spinning and Samata Leather.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)
also closed trading at green halting the winning streak of previous
fifth days.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 22.09 points and 24.71 points to stand at
8549.19 points and 14194.85 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 15,215,875 share and mutual funds of 286
companies were traded, of which 119 issues advanced while 132 declined
and 35 issues remained unchanged.
