RANGPUR, Sept 8, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur unit of Police Bureau of
Investigation (PBI) arrested four people, including father and step
mother, in connection with a clueless murder case of a boy in
overnight drives conducted in Dinajpur last night.
“A special PBI investigation team arrested the killers from
Khansama and Biral upazilas of Dinajpur,” Superintendent of Police
(SP) of Rangpur PBI ABM Zakir Hossain told a press conference at his
office here this evening.
The arrested were Ziaur Rahman, 42, his second wife Aleya Moni, 19,
her father Aiyub Ali, 55, and driver of a pick-up van Ismail Hossain,
26, of Khansama and Biral upazilas of Dinajpur district.
Earlier, Rangpur PBI recovered an abandoned trunk from Ramdanga
forest area in Dimla upazila of Nilphamari on last July 16 in the
morning.
“After opening the locked trunk in presence of local people, we
found a half-decomposed body of an unidentified boy, 12, from the
trunk,” Zakir said.
“Local police filed a murder case with Dimla police station in
Nilphamari on July 16 last,” Zakir said, adding that Rangpur PBI took
over the investigation process into the case.
After conducting an investigation into the case taking advantage of
modern technologies, the PBI investigation team found that the
recovered body was of one Zihad, 12, son of Ziaur Rahman of village
Nafanagar in Bochaganj upazila of Dinajpur.
“Collecting necessary information, we first arrested NGO employee
Ziaur Rahman, father of deceased boy Zihad, from his office in
Khansama upazila on Monday,” Zakir said.
As per confession of Rahman, the PBI team arrested his second wife
and the deceased boy’s step-mother Aleya Moni, her father Aiyub Ali
and pick-up van driver Ismail Hossain last night.
“During the interrogation, the arrested persons admitted their
involvement in strangling Zihad with a pillow on July 14 at night,
carrying the body in a trunk by the rented pick-up van before
abandoning the same at Ramdanga forest,” Zakir said.
Arrested Zihad’s father Ziaur Rahman and his step mother Aleya Moni
admitted that they murdered Zihad in a pre-planned way to deprive him
of properties of his father.
“Investigation Officer of Rangpur PBI Sub-inspector Ekramul Haque
will produce the arrested persons before a Nilphamari court tomorrow,”
Zakir said, hoping that they would give confessional statements before
the court.
