C R Dutta’s contribution to war of liberation to be remembered forever: Mozammel

DHAKA, Sept 08, 2020 (BSS) – Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has said that the nation will remember the inimitable role of freedom fighter CR Dutta forever to the War of Liberation.

“The great freedom fighter general C R Dutta fought to liberate our motherland in 1971 responding to the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said while addressing a virtual memorial meeting yesterday as the chief guest.

Online television channel Green TV organized the programme, where Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haquue, Liberation War veteran Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, poet and journalist Shahriar Kabir, BSS City Editor and Board Member Madhusudan Mondal and eminent social worker and ward councilor Lion Chitta Ranjon Das were present as discussants. Eminent anchor journalist Avi Chowdhury moderated the programme.

AKM Mozammel Haque said major general (Retd) C R Dutta worked throughout his life for building a non-communal Bangladesh in line with the spirit of War of Liberation.

Terming C R Dutta as the most trusted front ranking fighter of Bangabandhu, he said , Bangabandhu made him (Dutta) the Director General of Bangladesh Rifles, now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), immediately after the Liberation War to build up a strong border force.

The minister said that he ( Dutta) was also made director general (DG) of Sena Kallayan Sangstha twice for taking pragmatic steps for the welfare of the armed forces as well as for the country.

Liberation War veteran Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, popularly known as SP Mahbub said legacy of general C R Dutta is the source of inspiration for Bangalees to build a non-communal and prosperous country.
