Experts for involving youth in addressing climate change impacts

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2020 (BSS) – Experts at a virtual workshop today stressed the need for involving the young generation in the process of addressing the impacts of climate change.

They said there is no alternative to engaging the young people in the process of addressing climate change impacts.

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) arranged the virtual workshop on ‘climate change and the role of youth,’ a press relese said.

PKSF chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said the human civilisation is in danger now due to the adverse impacts of climate change, while the young generation has to play an active role in dealing with this crisis.

He urged the authorities concerned to involve youths in policymaking process at the national level and its implementation, aiming to cope with the climate change impacts effectively.

Bangladesh Climate Change Trust managing director Masud Ahmed said it is necessary to ensure participation of creative and enthusiastic youth in addressing the climate change impacts and achieving the Vision-2021 and Vision-2041.

That is why, he said, the youth are needed to be involved in the development, empowerment and the decision-making processes.

PKSF managing director Moinuddin Abdullah, its deputy managing director Dr Md Jasim Uddin and director Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadek Ahmad, among others, spoke at the virtual workshop.
