CCJ keeps 960 inmates in quarantine

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 8, 2020 (BSS)- A total of 960 inmates of Chattogram Central Jail (CCJ) have been kept in the quarantine till today to prevent coronavirus.

Of them, 10 are in the quarantine of prison hospital and 950 are in general quarantine. Besides, five jail guards are also kept in quarantine.

Kamal Hossain, senior jail super of CCJ, told journalists that the authorities have taken various preventive measures since the outbreak of the deadly virus. Separate wards were also prepared for the quarantine section by keeping a hand washing system and sitting up disinfectant spray tunnel machine, he said.

Due to this situation, the number of prison victims was also comparatively low in the jail, he added.

“Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, a total of eight members, including seven prison guards and a civil staff, were affected by COVID-19 who have already been recovered and joined their respective workplaces,” Kamal continued.

The CCJ, which has a capacity of 2,249 inmates, now has 6,575 inmates– 5,898 are Hajoti and 677 are Koidy– till today (September 8). Of them, 6,299 are males and 276 are females.
