Light to moderate rain likely

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9am today.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over northern part of the country,” said a Met office release this morning.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, said it.

Monsoon is active over northern part of the country, less active elsewhere over the country and weak over North Bay, the release added.

Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 35.8 degrees Celsius in Patuakhali and minimum temperature today 23.8 degrees Celsius in Tangail.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 174 millimeters (mm) at Tetulia.

The sun sets at 6.09 pm today and rises at 5.43 am tomorrow in the capital.
