CHATTOGRAM, Sept 7, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 71 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1,003 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
Health experts opined that coronavirus infection has decreased again in Chattogram as the rate of infection and the number of infections have also decreased compared to the last few days. The latest report showed that 71 new positive cases were filed and the current infection rate is 14.12 percent.
A total of 281 patients died till today due to the deadly virus only in Chattogram district with today’s single death.
Among the newly detected patients, 46 are from Chattogram city and 25 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
The total number of infected patients now stands at 17,516 in Chattogram district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS.
Among the total infected persons, 12,426 are the residents of the port city and the rest 4,512 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.
The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 6,809 with the healing of 77 more people in the last 24 hours.
“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” the health official said.
“The percentage of recovery rate now stands at 38.87 percent in the district,” he added.
