COVID-19 cases hit 20,028 with 15,306 recovery in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 07, 2020 (BSS) – With detection of 146 more positive cases in all ten districts of the division, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 20,028 in the last 24 hours ending this noon .

A total of 15,306 has been cured from the lethal virus infection and the recovery rate now stands at 76.42 percent ,” Assistant Director (Health Services ), Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS,

One hundred forty six new positive cases were reported after testing 282 samples at the respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 37 were detected in Jashore, 33 in Kushtia, 31 in Khulna, 21 in Jhenaidah, seven in Magura, six in Chuadanga, five in Satkhira, two each in Bagerhat, Meherpur and Narail districts in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 5,935 are in Khulna, 3,512 in Jashore, 2,917 in Kushtia, 1,742 in Jhenaidah, 1,298 in Chuadanga, 1,232 in Narail, 1,059 in Satkhira, 929 in Bagerhat, 846 in Magura and 558 in Meherpur, she added.

“ Of the total 20,028 coronavirus infected persons, 2,104 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 15,306 have recovered and 342 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi said

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities now rose to 342 in the division with two more deaths reported from each in Jashore and Jhenaidah districts on Sunday .

The district-wise break-up of the fatalities now stands at 86 in Khulna, 64 in Kushtia, 40 in Jashore, 31 in Chuadanga, 29 in Jhenaidah, 29 in Satkhira, 21 in Bagerhat, 13 in Magura, 12 in Meherpur and 17 in Narail under the division.

“The average casualty rate among all 20,028 COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 1.70 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 269 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 299 others were released in all ten districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 12 this noon .

Of them, 55,050 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 2,516 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
Dr. Rasheda Sultana added that inclusive steps have been taken to provide improved health services to the infected patients and inspire the people in abiding by the health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the government to prevent COVID-19 spread.
