Corona infection gradually decreasing in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 6, 2020 (BSS) – The coronavirus infection has been declining in Chattogram district for the last two days.

A total of 22 people were detected positive for the lethal virus in the last 24 hours after testing 364 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in the district.

The Infection rate is 16.54 percent and the total number of infected patients now stands at 17,446 in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

On Saturday, analysis of the data shows that 61 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1,037 samples in five COVID-19 laboratories in the district and the infection rate is 17 percent.

According to the data, a total of 63 people were tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday with an infection rate of 10.40 percent.

However, even before this, the rate and number of infections were lower for three consecutive days. On September 3, the germs matched in a sample of 107 people and the infection rate was 11.10 percent while 82 samples were found positive on September 2 with an infection rate of 10.65 percent. Besides, 58 people were found infected September 1 with an infection rate of 9.63 percent.

Among the 22 newly infected people, 18 are residents of different wards of the city and four are the inhabitants of the different upazilas of the district.

Among the total 17,446 coronavirus infected persons, 12,450 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,001 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

A total of 281 patients died till today due to the deadly virus only in Chattogram district with today’s single death.

The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 4,951 with the healing of 59 more people in the last 24 hours.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” Dr Rabbi said.

“The percentage of recovery rate stands at 28.37 percent in the district,” he added.
