COVID-19 recovery 80.48pc against 18.17pc infection in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 6, 2020 (BSS) – The recovery rate among coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients currently stands at 80.48 percent against 18.17 percent infection in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

“Some 8,736 COVID-19 patients out of 10,854 infected have recovered at 80.48 percent recovery rate in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

At the same time, a total of 59,729 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Saturday, and of them, 10,854 were found COVID-19 positive with an infection rate of 18.17 percent,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

“The 80.48 percent recovery rate among COVID-19 infected patients is 4.45 times higher than the infection rate of 18.17 percent in the division where the infection rate is declining in recent days,’ he said.

Meanwhile, 42 COVID-19 patients recovered during the last 24 hours till 8 am today while 38 more people were tested positive for coronavirus during the period in Rangpur city.

Presently, the district-wise break up of the 10,854 patients stands at 2,556 in Rangpur, 537 in Panchagarh, 958 in Nilphamari, 765 in Lalmonirhat, 828 in Kurigram, 992 in Thakurgaon, 3,167 in Dinajpur and 1,051 in Gaibandha districts of the division.

“Besides, the 8,736 recovered COVID-19 patients include 2,084 of Rangpur, 471 of Panchagarh, 874 of Nilphamari, 565 of Lalmonirhat, 717 of Kurigram, 597 of Thakurgaon, 2,689 of Dinajpur and 739 of Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Talking to BSS, Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Sultan Ahmed said the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients continues increasing as improved treatments are being provided to them amid a falling trend in the daily infection rate in the division.

Meanwhile, the total number of fatalities remained steady at 188 in the division with no death reported from anywhere on Saturday.

“The district-wise break up of the 188 fatalities stands at 40 in Rangpur, 64 in Dinajpur, 20 in Thakurgaon, 18 in Nilphamari, 14 in Gaibandha, 13 in Kurigram, 10 in Panchagarh and nine in Lalmonirhat districts,” he said.

Among the total 10,854 COVID-19 patients, 397 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 8,736 patients and 188 deaths while 1,533 remaining in home isolations.

“Since the beginning, a total of 75,519 people of the division were put in quarantines, and of them, 69,854 released and 5,665 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantines,” Dr. Ahmed said.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu called upon inspire the people in abiding by the health directives to prevent COVID-19 spread.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Zakir Hossain said the daily coronavirus infection rate is declining and improved health services are being provided to the infected patients resulting in their higher recovery rate in the division.
