Light rain with gusty wind likely

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the next 24-hour commencing at 9.00 this morning.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, a met office release said.

Country’s highest temperature on Friday was recorded 36 degrees Celsius at Jashore and lowest one today was 25 degrees Celsius at Teknaf.

The release said the axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh as one of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.

Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak over North Bay.

The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 34 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6.13 pm today and rises at 5.41 am tomorrow in the capital.
