Smart grid, GIS technology to ensure uninterrupted power supply: Nasrul
MAGURA, Sept 3, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and
Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said today that smart grid and GIS
technology will ensure uninterrupted power supply.
“Our election pledge was to provide electricity supply to every
house. For this distribution system is being improved,” he told the
inaugural function of Smart Pre-Payment Meter Installation in Magura
through video conference.
West Zone Power Distribution Company initiated the programme for
installation of smart pre-paid meter in the district town, said a
press release.
Nasrul Hamid said smart prepayment meters will encourage consumers
to save electricity. He directed officials concerned to use new
friendly technology in power sector involving the consumers.
He said that the number of subscribers in Magura is 32,800 and the
initial target for installation of the proposed pre-paid meters is
15,150.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Ashraful Alam presided over the function
while Advocate Saifuzzaman Shikhar, MP, Power Secretary Dr Sultan
Ahmed, and Managing Director of the West Zone Power Distribution
Company Md Shafiq Uddin joined the virtual conference.
