Two held with ganja, phensedyl in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 3, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 in a drive seized 10.50-kg of smuggled ganja and 763 bottles of phensedyl with a truck and arrested two presumed drug traders from the city in the early hours of today.

“An operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur Battalion headquarters arrested the drug traders with the contraband drugs from Sarderpara area under Tazhat police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police,” a press release said.

The elite force searched a stone-laden truck and seized 10.50-kg of smuggled ganja, 763 bottles of phensedyl and the truck, 112 cubic feet of stones, two mobile phone sets, one SIM card and Taka 8,000 in cash from the possessions of arrested persons.

The arrested persons are Rasel Miah, 20, son of Nayan Miah of village Nabogram under Sadar upazila and Rabbi, 20, son of Md. Shahid of village Roy Dakshin under Singair upazila of Manikganj district.

“During interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had been tactfully carrying smuggled drugs from frontier areas in Kurigram to Sirajganj and Gazipur and other parts of the country for a long time,” the release added.

After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested drug traders to Tazhat police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
