Stocks rebound after single day halt

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the stocks returned to gaining streak after a single day halt as optimistic investors showed appetite on sector-wise issues.

At the premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the broad index, DSEX settled at 4891.53 points on Wednesday with a gain of 29.30 points or 0.60 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 18.24 points and 5.95 points to settle at 1714.65 points and 1137.33 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 181,432 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 302.44 million securities.

On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 12.01 billion from Taka 7.77 billion in the previous session.

Gainers took lead over losers as out of 357 issues traded, 162 securities gained price while 153 declined and 42 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,706 billion which was Taka 3,687 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Fu-Wang Ceramic, Prime Insurance, Express Insurance, Anwar Galvanizing, BD Thai Aluminium, Hakkani Pulp, AB Bank, Legacy Footwear, Janata Insurance and Summit Alliance Port.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited, Square Pharma, Orion Pharma, Grameenphone, Brac Bank, Express Insurance, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Lankabangla Finance and Fine Foods.

The top ten losers were Exim Bank 1st Mutual Fund, SEML FBLSL Growth Fund, IFIL ISL Mutual Fund 1, CAPM IBBL Mutual Fund, Prime 1 ICBA, First Janata Bank Mutual Fund, SEML IBBL SF, EBL 1st MF, EBL NRB MF and Sandhani Insurance.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trading at green after a single day halt.

CSCX and CASPI rose by 56.29 points and 114.75 points to stand at 8425.73 points and 13973.75 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 13,587,768 share and mutual funds of 277 companies were traded, of which 137 issues advanced while 102 declined and 38 issues remained unchanged.
