Nasrul for utilising technology to ensure transparency in power sector

JASHORE, Sept 1, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said enhancing use of technology in power sector is necessary to ensure transparency and accountability.

“Modern technology will ensure customers satisfaction by increasing the quality of services,” said the state minister while delivering speech as the chief guest at the inaugural function of Smart Pre-Payment Meter Installation in Jashore through video conference.

West Zone Power Distribution Company initiated the programme for installation of smart pre-paid meter in Jashore city, according to a press release.
“A pre-paid meter will allow you to use electricity as per the budget and customers will get 1% rebate on net electricity bill. Security deposit will not be needed for new connection,” he said.

The state minister said recharge process is also very simple.
He noted that the number of subscribers in Jashore is 90,430. The initial target for installation of the proposed pre-paid meters is 46,509.

Nasrul directed the authorities concerned to take steps for proper installation of underground cables, smart grid and proper utilization of existing resources.

Deputy Commissioner Md Tamizul Islam Khan presided over the function while State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, and Managing Director of West Zone Power Distribution Company Md Shafiq Uddin joined.
