Beat Policing to reach police services to people’s doorsteps

RANGPUR, Sept 1, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP)
Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud today said the Beat Policing Programme would
reach police services to doorsteps of the people creating a sense of security
among them.

“Our goal is to maintain social order and curb crimes through Beat
Policing in the city,” Alim said while launching the ‘Beat Policing
Programme’ at a function held at Rampura Satgara area here as the chief
guest.

He said Beat Policing activities would be expanded directly from police
stations to grassroots levels through intensive policing in all wards and
making the best use of manpower deployed in the six police stations of the
metropolis.

“At the same time, Beat Policing will enhance the ability of police to
collect advanced intelligence for preventing problems and crimes through
creating mass public awareness at the marginal levels involving the people,”
he said.

He said an adequate number of Beat Policing officials and staff would be
deployed at all 55 Beat Policing Offices under six police stations of the
metropolis and they would regularly visit their respective beat areas and
stay there for a specified period of time.

“After listening to statements of service recipients at Beat Policing
Offices, they will provide necessary police services there instantly,” he
said, adding that mobile phones of Beat Policing officials would remain open
24 hours a day for the people.

President of local No-5 Beat Policing Unit Haji Shahidul Islam presided
over the function. It was addressed by Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali police
