No flooding in Brahmaputra, Ganges basins in next 10 days: FFWC

DHAKA, Sept 1, 2020 (BSS) – There is no possibility of flooding in Brahmaputra and Ganges basin during the next 10 days, according to the latest flood outlook of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).
“Water level in Brahmaputra-Jamuna river system may steadily fall during the next seven days. So there is no significant probability of flooding at other stations of Brahmaputra basin in the next 10 days,” the FFWC said in its latest flood outlook.

As the Ganges-Padma river system is also likely to steadily fall, there is no possibility of flooding in the Ganges basin in the next 10 days.

Rivers around Dhaka city may steadily fall and no probability of flooding is forecast in the rivers around the Dhaka city, the 10-day flood outlook said.

According to the FFWC’s daily bulletin issued this morning, all the major rivers of the country, except the Brahmaputra, are in falling trend and the rivers in upper Meghna basin may continue to recede in the next 24 hours.

All the major rivers of the country are flowing below their respective danger levels, the bulletin said.

Of the total 101 river points monitored in the country today, water levels went up at 34 stations, while decreased at 65 stations and remained stable at two points, official data showed.
