BGB seizes Tk 61.25cr drugs, smuggled goods in Aug

DHAKA, Sept 1, 2020 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized
narcotics, arms and other smuggled goods worth Taka 61.25 crore from
different parts of the country, including the border areas, in the month of
August 2020.

The seized drugs include 12,09,526 yaba tablets, 43,651 bottles of
phensidyl, 6,566 bottles of foreign liquor, 283 cans of beer, 1,175 kilograms
(kg) ganja, 1,496 grams of heroin, 16,393 injections, 7,572 Anagra/Sanagra
tablets and 589,430 other tablets, said a BGB press release here today.

The seized smuggled items include 9.864kg gold, 74.15 kg silver, 859
peaches imitation jewelry, 50,404 cosmetics items, 1,972 sarees, 133 three
pieces along with shirt pieces and 23 meters whole cloth , 16 ready-made
garments, one sculpture of touchstone, 149 cubic feet of wood, 2,823 kg tea
and 49,505 kg coal.

Besides, one truck, one pickup van, 23 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, 79
motorcycles were recovered.

The recovered arms include two revolvers, one LG and six rounds of
bullets.

The BGB nabbed 284 people for smuggling different drugs and goods and 56
Bangladeshi nationals for crossing boarder illegally and took legal actions
against them in these connections in August.
