100 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Aug 31, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 100 more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at the two COVID-19 laboratories –Rangpur and Dinajpur– in the division.

Health officials said the 100 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts of the division.

Of them, 48 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 48 patients include 22 of Rangpur, 11 of Lalmonirhat, four of Kurigram, 10 of Gaibandha and one of Nilphamari districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 52 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur district.

“The 52 new COVID-19 patients include 23 of Dinajpur, 13 of Thakurgaon, six of Panchagarh and 10 of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 6:20 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients stridently rose to 10,339 as 100 new cases were reported from across the division today.

The district-wise break-up of the total 10,339 patients stands at 2,425 in Rangpur, 530 in Panchagarh, 914 in Nilphamari, 714 in Lalmonirhat, 796 in Kurigram, 923 in Thakurgaon, 3,080 in Dinajpur and 957 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
