Bangabandhu is most influential, courageous leader of 20th century: Riva

DHAKA, Aug 31, 2020 (BSS) – Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is one of the most influential and courageous leaders of the 20th century.

She made the remark while addressing a virtual Book Gifting Session on Bangabandhu as part of the ‘Mujib Borsho’ celebrations, marking the birth centenary of the Bangladesh’s founding father, a press release issued by Indian high commission here said.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka gifted books on Bangabandhu and the Greet Liberation War written by acclaimed authors and historians have been gifted to 100 universities and colleges across the country.

She expressed the hope that through these books, young students would better appreciate and understand Bangabandhu and help realize his dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’.

Reflecting back on Bangabandhu’s rich legacy, the High Commissioner said Bangabandhu is the founder of modern Bangladesh, who also laid the foundations for India-Bangladesh relations.

As the keynote speaker the deputy education minister spoke on Bangabandhu and his message for the post- liberation generation.

He thanked the Indian mission here for the initiative and reiterated the extraordinary strength and warmth that India and Bangladesh relations enjoy.

Vice Chancellors of BUET professor Satya Prasad Majumder, Khulna University professor Dr. Mohammed Fayek Uzzaman, CUET, Chittagong professor Dr. Mohammed Rafiqul Alam, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet Farid Uddin Ahmed, Rajshahi University professor M Abdus Sobhan and CVASU, Chittagong professor Gautam Buddha Das also spoke on the occasion.
