DHAKA, August 31, 2020 (BSS) – Stocks today ended trading extending the gaining streak for the fourth consecutive session as enthusiastic investors kept on their buying spree on large-cap issues.
At the premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the broad index, DSEX settled at 4879.14 points on Monday with a gain of 5.97 points or 0.12 percent.
Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 9.44 points and 2.23 points to settle at 1699.54 points and 1132.84 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 198,801 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 318.36 million securities.
On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 11.66 billion from Taka 9.07 billion in the previous session.
Losers took lead over gainers as out of 348 issues traded, 116 securities gained price while 191 declined and 41 remained unchanged.
The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,698 billion which was Taka 3,696 billion in the previous session.
The top 10 gainers were Bay-Leasing, Miracle Industries, BD Finance, G Q Ball Pen, Midas Finance, Beximco Pharma, Sonargaon Textile, Basundhara Paper Mill, Langkabangla Finance and BDCom Online.
Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited, Brac Bank, Delta Brac Housing, Square Pharma, Orion Pharma, Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh, Grameenphone, IFIC and Lankabangla Finance.
The top ten losers were CAPM IBBL Mutual Fund, Peoples Insurance, Federal Insurance, Pioneer Insurance, Desh Garments, Samata Leather, Queen South Textile, Eastern Insurance, EBL First Mutual Fund and Republic Insurance.
On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trading at green extending the gaining streak in previous session.
CSCX and CASPI rose by 15.73 points and 35.11 points to stand at 8400.67 points and 13908.14 points respectively.
At CSE, a total of 12,989,148 shares and mutual funds of 263 companies were traded, of which 102 issues advanced while 116 declined and 45 issues remained unchanged.
