‘BD Legal Aid’ app gives free legal services to poor, helpless
DHAKA, Aug 30, 2020 (BSS) – The helpless and poor litigants of the country are
getting free legal aid at home through the ‘BD Legal Aid’ application (app)
which is available on Google Play Store.
‘BD Legal Aid’ was launched to provide legal assistance as soon as possible to
deserving persons, keeping in mind the government’s commitment to build a
digital Bangladesh.
With the help of this app, helpless and indigent litigants are getting free
legal aid from any part of the country.
After installing of the app from Google Play Store via smart phone, it can be
easily used in Bengali or English languages.
Besides, the present government has implemented a helpline service program at
the national level to ensure “legal services” for helpless, poor, oppressed
people, said a National Legal Aid Services Organization circular.
This toll-free (cost-free) number is:16430, it added.
A call center has been set up at the National Legal Aid Services Organization’s
central office with this short code 16430 number.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the National Helpline Call Center on 28
April 2016 to ensure digital legal aid services door to door for the
marginalized people.
The ‘BD Legal Aid’ app will also refer the helpline number 16430 inside it once
it is installed on mobile phone.
