Sinha murder case: 3 witnesses put on 4-day remand

COX’S BAZAR, Aug 29, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today
took the three witnesses in a police case into their custody on a
four-day remand for questioning in a case filed over the murder of
Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.

The three witnesses are Nurul Amin, Mohammad Ayaz and Nizam Uddin.

A team of RAB took them from Cox’s Bazar district jail around 11 am
for interrogation in second phase, Cox’s Bazar Jail Super Mokammel
Hossain told BSS.

Earlier, on August 25, Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate
Tamanna Farah granted a four-day remand to each as police produced
them before the court after completion of the seven-day remand while
Investigation officer (IO) of the case and RAB senior superintendent
of police Khairul Islam pleaded for another seven-day remand each
afresh.

The RAB arrested the three from Marishbunia village on August 9 and
they were put on a seven-day remand on August 12.

Major (retd) Sinha was shot and killed by police at a check post in
Baharchora area in Teknaf.

Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous later filed the case against
nine including Teknaf Police Station officer-in-charge Prodip Kumar
Das and sub-inspector Liakat Ali.
