Late variety Aman paddy seedlings distributed to Gaibandha farmers

GAIBANDHA, Aug 29, 2020 (BSS) – Late variety Aman paddy seedlings was distributed among farmers of Sadullapur upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

Director General (DG) of Department of Agricultural extension (DAE) Dr Abdul Muyeed as the chief guest in a function held on the upazila parishad premises handed over the seedlings to 660 flood affected farmers.

While addressing, Abdul Muyeed said the DAE officials would remain by the farmers to help them bring the arable land under farming.

As the farmers produce various crops through fighting inclement weather, they would have to be respected by us for their contribution to food production, he said.

The DG said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed to bring all arable land under crop farming. “So, we will have to notice that an inch of land isn’t fallen uncultivated,” he said.

Additional Director of DAE, Rangpur region, Mohammad Ali and Sadullapur Upazila Parishad Chairman Shaharia Khan Biplob were present as special guests.

Terming the present government as farmers’ friendly, Abdul Muyeed said the government took various welfare steps including agri rehabilitation programme for the flood affected farmers of the country to recover their losses.

A large number of farmers, upazila level officials, public representatives’ and political leaders were present on the occasion.

Later, the DG also distributed seedlings of late variety T-Aman paddy to the flood affected farmers of sadar upazila in a function held on premises of Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) of the town as the chief guest.
