Three killed, 18 injured in separate road mishaps

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2020 (BSS) – Three persons were killed including a woman and 18 others injured in three separate road accidents in different parts of the country today.

BSS Cumilla correspondents said a bus of Tisha Classic Paribahan turned upside down as its driver lost control over the steering in Batisa area under Chauddagram upazila of the district around 3.30pm, leaving a woman, Hasina Begum, dead on the spot.

Eighteen passengers were injured in the incident, Joynal Abedin, sub-inspector (SI) of Miahbazar Highway Police Station, told BSS.

In another incident, a security guard, working for Madhumoti Bank Kalia branch, was run over by a sand-laden truck at 8.30am today in Uthli area on the Kalia-Khulna highway in Narail, leaving him seriously injured.

“Doctors at Kalia Upazila Health Complex declared the security guard Imamul Fakir, 43, dead as locals rushed him to the hospital,” Kalia Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Rafikul Islam said.

Besides, a motorcyclist was killed in Bogura’s Shahjahanpur upazila after coming under a speeding truck this afternoon.

“The motorcyclist Jihad, 19, died on the spot as the truck crushed him in front of Banani Customs Office on the Dhaka-Bogura Highway, Shahjahanpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Azim Uddin said.
