DHAKA, Aug. 27, 2020 (BSS)- The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYAS) has decided to give COVID-19 youth award to the youths, who have taken part in the humanitarian aid activities including creating health awareness to deal with COVID-19, a MOYAS press release said today.

The decision was taken in a MOYAS’s virtual meeting held on Wednesday afternoon with State Minister for MOYAS Mohammad Zahid Ahasan Russell MP in the chair.

MOYAS Secretary Mohammad Akhter Hossain along with officials of the ministry were also present in the meeting.

“The State Minister said the COVID-19 has made human beings a face of harsh reality. The son leaves his ailing father in the hospital. The members of the family are not receiving the body of the deceased infected with coronavirus. But we notice with surprise that our youths and volunteers are coming forward in this harsh reality and serving from the side of persons affected by the coronavirus. They are also burying the body of the dead person infected by the coronavirus at the risk of their life.”

“To tell the truth these youths have been leading at the critical time of our national life and we want to be rewarded on behalf of MOYAS of those who have set an example by participating in various human cries, including raising awareness in the COVID-19 situation. It is basically their recognition of their good deed and I believe that this recognition will encourage them to do more good work in the future,” the state minister concluded.

By checking and selecting in ten specific categories, ten youths will be given COVID-19 youth awards after inviting applications from MOYAS.

The winners ten youths will be able to directly take part in the Dhaka OIC youth capital volunteer camp.
