Moderately heavy to heavy falls likely over country’s southern region

DHAKA, Aug 26, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over southern part of the country.

It also said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions on the day.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, said a met office release this morning.

It said the well-marked low over North Bay and adjoining area of Bangladesh now lies over Northwest Bay and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, the centre of the well-marked low to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh, it added.

Monsoon is active over southern part of Bangladesh and fairly active over northern part of Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over Northeast Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature today 23.5 degrees Celsius at Teknaf.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 45 millimeters (mm) at Teknaf.
