AL leader Monjurul Imam’s death anniversary being observed in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 25, 2020 (BSS) – The 17th death anniversary of advocate Monjurul Imam, former member of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) Advisory Council committee and President of Khulna City Unit AL, was being observed today here on limited scale due to coronavirus pandemic.

To mark the day, city and district unit Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies arranged different programmes.

Leaders and activists of city and district AL this morning placed wreaths at his memorial on Mirjapore road in the city where he was killed.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and city AL president Talukder Abdul Khaleque, its general secretary MDA Babul Rana, AL leaders Shaymol Singha Roy, Munshi Mahbub Alam Sohag and Kamruzzaman Zamal as well as Jubo League city convener Shafiqur Rahman Palash, among others, were present.

Later, AL leaders, activists, supporters and family members offered fateha at his grave at Boyra graveyard in the city, arranged milad mahfil and special prayers at Munsibari mosque at Goalkhali in Khalishpur area.

Meanwhile, KCC ward no-23 unit AL and family members jointly arranged doa mahfil at Moti Mosque after Zuhor prayers while ward no-16 unit AL offered fateha at his graveyard.

A discussion meeting and doa mahfil will be held in the afternoon at party office.

Advocate Monjurul Imam, his associate advocate Bijon Bihari and their Rickshaw puller were killed on their way to Khulna Court on August 25, 2003.
