Light to moderate rain likely

DHAKA, Aug 25, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 this morning.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, at many places over Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions; at a few places over Sylhet division and at one or two places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions,” said a met office bulletin today.

Monsoon is active over southern part, fairly active over northern part of Bangladesh and strong over North Bay, added the release.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly over the country. As an extended outlook for the next 72 hours, the bulletin predicted that the rainfall activity is likely to increase.

Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 35.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Cumilla, Syedpur and Tetulia and minimum temperature today was recorded 23.0 degrees Celsius at Teknaf.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6 this morning was recorded 42 millimeters (mm) at Teknaf.

The sun sets at 6.23 pm and rises at 5.38 am tomorrow in the capital.
