Bangladesh would not have emerged without Bangabandhu: Farooque

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque today said Bangladesh would not have emerged in the world if Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not born.

“We should practice the ideals of Father of the Nation instead of being limited to holding discussions,” he said while addressing a discussion at Bangladesh Press Council here.

Barishal Bibhag Samity organized the discussion marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day, said a press release.

He (Bangabandhu) spent almost his entire young life in jail for emancipation of the Bengali nation, Farooque said, adding but in return, he (Bangabandhu) received the brutal August 15 massacre.

Barishal Bibhag Samity President Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Awami League leader Advocate Balaram Podder, Vice-President of Jatiya Press Club MA Jalil and Chairman of Jatiya Swadhinota Party Mizanur Rahman Mizu, among others, addressed the discussion.
