Momen urges media to highlight climate change issue

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2020 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today
urged media to highlight the climate change issues for raising
awareness about adverse effects of global warming in the world
economy.

“The global warming issue will be emerged as the major global crisis
in future as we have to overcome the losses worth one trillion US
dollars that was counted every year globally due to the adverse
effects of climate change,” he said.

The minister stated these while planting a sapling on the parliament
premises as part of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s pledge to plant one
crore plantlets across the country in ‘Mujib Year’ marking the birth
centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a
foreign ministry press release said.

Momen said Bangladesh will attend the next COP 26 in Scotland as the
current chair of Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) while National
Advisory Committee on Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Autism Saima
Wazed Hossain has been chosen as a “Thematic Ambassador” by the CVF.

Saima, also daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is an expert
on neurodevelopment disorders and mental health, and an accomplished
speaker and author.

Safiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP, of dhaka-10 constituency was present at that time.
