BSC set to procure six more new vessels

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) will procure six more new vessels to its fleet.

According to the concern officials, four of the vessels will be oil tankers with capacities 114,000 Metric tons and two others will be bulk carriers with capacities of 80,000 Metric tons. Procuring procedures are going on, said a release.

This information was announced today at a 305th general meeting of BSC’s Managing Board at the conference room of the ministry here.

State minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, also Chairman of BSC, presided over the meeting.

Member of the Board and Shipping Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of Commerce Ministry AHM Ahsan, Joint-Secretary of Finance Division Sheikh Momena Mony, Managing Director of BSC Commodore Sumon Mahmud Sabbir were present at the meeting.

State minister Khalid Mahmud said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to make BSC a more powerful Company. He (Khalid Mahmud) has instructed to be more careful to the concerns about the BSC, so that BSC should not be questioned.

Shipping secretary Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury said the six new ships would create a new start at BSC. He advised everyone to endeavor to achieve the goals.

The BSC, which is the largest public shipping company in Bangladesh, was established in 1972 with the objective of providing efficient, safe and reliable shipping services to exporters, importers and business houses.
