Bogra farmers complete 95% of aman cultivation

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2020 (BSS) – Farmers of Bogra have completed 95 percent of Aman cultivation except the flood-hit areas.

“Almost 95 percent aman planting has been completed at Bogra…while some farmers are busy preparing the ground of aman at other six eastern upazilas adjoining the Jamuna River”, assistant agriculture officer of Department of Agricultural Extension Farid Uddin told BSS.

“Farmers have completed the work of planting aman in most of the areas in the western part of the district due to high land,” he added.

“This year, the target for aman cultivation has been set at 1.43 lakh hectares of land in Bogra while the production target has been set at 1.63 lakh metric tons of rice” he said.

He informed that the production had exceeded the target by planting aman on the same amount of land in last year as well.

If there is no natural disaster, the bumper crop of Aman will be harvested in Bogra this year. Due to high rainfall this year, farmers will not have to face drought or any water shortage. The soil retains a lot of water during the monsoon season, he said.
