Moderately heavy to heavy falls likely over country’s southern region

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over southern part of the country.

It also said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, at a few places over Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions on the day.

Day and night temperature may rise 1-2 degrees Celsius over the country, said a met office release.

A low pressure area has formed over North Bay and adjoining area. The low over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area become less important and merged with the monsoon axis. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature was recorded on Sunday 34.5 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and lowest one today was recorded 24.6 degrees Celsius at Teknaf. The highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 78 millimeters (mm) at Satkhira.

The sun sets at 6.24 pm today and rises at 5.38 am tomorrow in the capital.
