37 drug addicts jailed in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, June 29, 2018 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)
arrested 37 more people and subsequently they were sentenced to different
terms of jail each by mobile court on charge of taking drugs here yesterday.
On a tip-off, teams of the elite anti-crime force conducted raids in
different areas of Rajshahi, Natore and Chapainawabganj districts and
arrested them.
The RAB sources here said today the teams also seized 135 yaba tablets,
350 grams of ganja, 10 liters of country-made liquor and some other drugs-
taking instruments from their possession.
Later, the arrested were produced before a mobile court. After examining
the relevant evidences, the court sentenced them to jail.
Nure Alam, assistant superintendent of Police working at RAB, said
different courts sent more than 216 drug addicts to jail after found them
guilty in last one week.
During another drive, the RAB members also arrested an alleged female drug
paddler identified as Shirin Akhter, 20, with 760 pieces of yaba tablets from
Baliapara area under Kasiadanga Police Station in the city today.
Similar type of anti-drive operation will be conducted in the days ahead
for the greater interest of protecting the youths from the deadly drug-
addiction, he added.
