Light to moderate rain likely across country

DHAKA, Aug 23, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9.00 this morning.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office bulletin today.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, said the bulletin.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

As an extended outlook for the next 72 hours, the bulletin predicted that a low pressure area is likely to from over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 33.3 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature today was recorded 24.0 degrees Celsius at Teknaf.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 122 millimeters (mm) at Cox’s Bazar. The sun sets at 6.25 PM today and rises at 5.38 AM tomorrow in the capital.
