COVID-19 cases reach 17,049, cured 11,976 in Khulna division

KHULNA, Aug 22, 2020 (BSS) – With detection of 133 more positive cases in last 24 hours till this noon, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division has surged to 17,049, said an official release here.

“We received 282 samples at Khulna Medical College (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 133 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS.

The health officials said among the newly detected COVID-19 patients, 99 are in Jashore, 20 in Bagerhat, 11 in Khulna, two in Satkhira and one in Narail in the division.

“Among the total 17,049 COVID-19 patients, 5307 are in Khulna, 2,769 in Jashore, 2,475 in Kushtia, 1,414 in Jhenaidah, 1,108 in Chuadanga, 1,078 in Narail, 925 in Satkhira, 840 in Bagerhat, 726 in Magura and 407 in Meherpur districts,” Dr. Ferdousi said.

With the healing of 78 more patients, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 11,976 with the recovery rate of 70.24 percent in the division till today’s noon, she said.

Among the total 17,049 coronavirus infected persons, 1,791 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 11,976 have recovered and 291 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division, she added.

With one more deaths, the total number of fatalities now reached 290 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 75 in Khulna, 52 in Kushtia, 36 in Jashore, 26 in Satkhira, 22 in Jhenaidah, 25 in Chuadanga, 18 in Bagerhat, 16 in Narail, 11 in Magura and 10 in Meherpur districts in the division”, she continued.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 17,049 Covid-19 patients stands at a little over of 1.70 percent in the division.
