DHAKA, Aug 20, 2020 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun today called upon all to produce quality industrial products to build industrialized Bangladesh as per dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“In order to survive in the competition of globalization, we have to increase the capacity of the industry and take the lead in the production of quality products. Any compromise in the production of quality products would be considered as dishonesty and corruption,” he said.

The Industries Minister made the call while addressing a seminar titled “Eternal Bangabandhu: Dreamer of Industrialized Bangladesh” organized by the Ministry of Industries marking the National Mourning Day 2020 and the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the ministry conference room in the city, said a press release.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder attended the seminar as the special guest while Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam presided over it.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry Salauddin Mahmud moderated the seminar.

In the line of the Bangabandhu’s industrial philosophy, he said, the opportunity to set up joint ventures with foreign entrepreneurs should be strengthened for quality industrialization in the country.

“New projects will have to be undertaken for the production. Marketing and branding of various types of imported alternative products, including agro-processing, leather and sugar, will have to be accelerated,” he added.

Kamal Mojumder said after the independence, Bangabandhu nationalized
the factories in the interest of the people.

“Unfortunately, after the assassination of Bangabandhu, the lucrative industries were handed over to the private sector. Skilled factory workers are laid off. There is no alternative to the expansion of the industrial sector, especially the cottage, small and medium industries, to build the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu’s dream,” he said.

He called upon the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation
(BSCIC) to play a leading role in this regard.
