Aus paddy harvesting starts in Muktagachha

MYMENSINGH, Aug 20, 2020 (BSS) – The harvesting of Aus paddy started in Muktagachha upazila of the district.

An Aus crop cutting programme, organized by the upazila agriculture office, was also held at Sholchapra under Kashimpur block of the upazila today.

Upazila agriculture officer Amdadul Haque inaugurated the programme by cutting the Aus crop. Upazila agriculture extension officer Md Sohel Rana, vice-president of Mymensingh Press Club AZM Imam Uddin Mukta, sub assistant agriculture officers Rezaul Amin, Shwkat Alam, plant doctor Selim Reza, block in-charge Md Robiul Hassan, farmers Golam Mustafa, Humaun Kabir and other block farmers were present.

Kashempur Block in-charge Rabiul Hassan told BSS that a total of 70 hectares of lands were brought under Aus cultivation in the upazila. Out of total cultivated land 40 hectares of land were brought under different verities of the paddy only at Kashempur block. The verities are BRRIdhan 48, 26, 85 and Bina19.

The production of BRRIdhan-48 verity higher than the other verities. On an average yield of the paddy 45 to 50 maunds per acre, he said.

Besides, a total of 320 bighas of land were brought under Aus incentive programme. Each Aus farmers got 5kg of quality seeds, 20 kg of urea,10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizers free of cost under government incentive programme.

While talking to BSS Aus farmers of the block expressed satisfaction for getting incentives like quality seeds, fertilizers and other necessary supports and advices by the concerned agriculturists.

They also happy for producing expected yields with low cost and shortest time and getting reasonable price.

Earlier a view exchange meeting was held with the Aus farmers of Shoilchapra of the upazila. The meeting discussed about the progress, prospects and problems of Aus farming.
