Driver remanded in mountaineer Ratna hit-and-run case

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2020 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed the driver of the microbus that hit mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna and left her to die in the capital’s Chandrima Udyan area on August 7 on a two-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and investigation officer and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station sub-inspector Mobarak Ali pleaded to place driver Mohammad Nayeem on a five-day remand.

Police on August 18 seized the black microbus from the capital’s Ibrahimpur area and arrested its driver Nayeem, 27.

Ratna, who was riding her bicycle, was hit by the speeding microbus on August 7 and she died on the spot.
