RCC plans to construct 30 STCs for modern waste management

RAJSHAHI, Aug 19, 2020 (BSS) – Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has a plan of constructing Secondary Transfer Station (STC) one each in all 30 wards in phases aiming at removing and managing the household wastes and garbage in a modern and hygienic manner.

In the first phase, sites for constructing 12 STCs have been selected and construction works of five of those are going to start within a shortest possible time. Earlier, the city has constructed four stations for modern waste management.

Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed this while visiting various places in the city to select the sites of other STCs today. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Abdul Jalil, RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin, Chief Engineer Khandaker Khairul Bashar and Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun accompanied the mayor.

Liton asked all the officials and staffs concerned to render their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to make the effort of making the city neat and clean a total success.

“I’m committed to build the city green, clean and eco-friendly within the shortest possible time as per demands of the city dwellers,” he said.

He added that the officials and employees who will be adjudged as good workers will be appreciated and awarded to inspire others.

Liton also sought whole-hearted cooperation of the city dwellers to supplement the city corporation’s efforts as without their support the cherished goal could not be achieved.

He asks his staff to motivate the people against dumping household wastes besides the roads and other public places haphazardly.
