AL’s webinar on rehabilitation of Aug 1975 killers tomorrow
DHAKA, Aug 18, 2020 (BSS) – The ruling Awami League (AL) will hold a webinar at 8.30pm tomorrow on the rehabilitation of the perpetrators of August 1975 carnage and the ill efforts of the subsequent governments to spare the murderers.
Different evidences on the matter will be presented in the virtual discussion meeting titled ‘Post-1975 Bangladesh: Rehabilitation of Killers’.
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Barrister Shah Ali Farhad will moderate the webinar, which will be broadcast live on the AL’s official Facebook page www.facebook.com/awamileague.1949 and Youtube Channel https://www.youtube.com/user/myalbd, said a press release here today.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, researcher and columnist Syed Badrul Ahsan, columnist and former student leader Subhash Singha Roy, Professor of Australian university RMIT Shams Rahman and writer and researcher Hasan Morshed will join the webinar as discussants.
The webinar also will be broadcasted live on Facebook pages of private television channel Bijoy TV, Bdnews24.com, Banglanews24.com, Barta24.com, Daily Samakal, Daily Jugantor, Daily Ittefaq, Sarabangla.net, Daily Bhorer Kagoj, Jagonews24.com and Bangladesh Journal.
According to the press release, Ziaur Rahman backed anti-liberation elements under the leadership of Khondaker Mostaq grabbed the state power after killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members along with his relatives on August 15 in 1975.
Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad promulgated Indemnity Ordinance so that the assassins cannot be brought under trial while funder of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Ziaur Rahman inserted it in the Constitution.
The webinar to be held tomorrow will discuss the matters and present different evidences before the people that the post-’75 government not only kept those involved in the killing out of purview of the trial but also awarded the killers.
