Khaleque demands trial of Zia, Khaleda, Tarique to patron Aug 15, 17, 21 killers

KHULNA, Aug 18, 2020 (BSS) – Khulna Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque on Monday demanded posthumous trial of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman , his wife former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Zia and others on charges of grisly incidents of August 15, 1975, August 21, 2004 and August 17, 2005.

The mayor Also demanded punishment of former state minister for homes Lutfuzzaman Babar, former Deputy Education Minister Abdus Salam Pintu and others who colluded the carnages and patronised the killers and resorting to militancy.

He made the demand while presiding over a discussion meeting organized by Khulna city and district units Awami League (AL) at its party office marking August 17, 2005 series bombing incident.

He said, “It is now demand of the time to bring them all to the book for their evil acts.”

“On this day (August 17) in 2005, bomb attacks were carried out at more than 500 places in 63 districts across the country when Begum Zia led BNP-Jamaat alliance was in state power,” he said.

The mayor said militants spread their heinous wings and gathered strength by getting BNP-Jamaat’s shelters, and added they (militants) carried out series bombings in 63 districts simultaneously to show their strength.

Khaleque said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led government has been able to show more success in combating militancy than many other countries in he world .

City and Districts AL general secretary MDA Babul Rana and advocate Sujit Adhikary and senior AL leaders advocate Chisty Sohrab Hossain, Kazi Badsha Mia, Moqbul Hossain Mintu, Kamruzzaman Zamal, advocate Anisur Rahman Poplu, Munshi Mahbub Alam Sohag, Jubo League city unit president Shafiqur rahman palash, among others, addressed the meeting.
