GAIBANDHA, Aug 18, 2020 (BSS) – The government has given an approval of a development project for river bank protection in Sadar and Sundarganj upazilas of the district.
The project involving Taka 400 crore was passed at a regular meeting of ECNEC held in Dhaka on July 28, 2020.
Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) will implement the project under the project river bank protection work along the right bank of the Brahmaputra river from Kamarjani Bandar under Sadar upazila to Horipur under Sundarganjupazila in the district, said sub divisional engineer of BWDB Rezaul Karim Reza.
CC blocks would also be used in the river bank protection work, he added.
Apart from it 18 km long flood control embankment of the BWDB would also be repaired from Kamarjani to Horipurat the cost of Taka 100 crore under the project.
Executive engineer of BWDB MdMokhlasur Rahman said the river bank protection work along the right bank of the river would start in coming dry season.
