AL leader Adv.Siddique Ahmed passes away

NARAIL, Aug 17, 2020, (BSS)-Former General Secretary of Narail district Awami League (AL) and eminent freedom fighter (FF) Advocate Siddique Ahmed passed away in the capital on Sunday night.

Also a former Public Prosecutor Ahmed died from COVID – 19 at the age of 71, hospital and family sources said here today.

A devoted AL leader Advocate Siddique Ahmed’s tested corona positive in the first week of this month and has been undergoing treatment at a hospital, Dhaka where he died at 9: 25 pm last night.

He survived by his wife, two daughters, large number of political, professional colleagues, host of relatives and admirers.

His wife Anjuman Ara, is a leader of Narail District Women’s Awami League and a retired headmaster of Machimdia Model government primary school.

His janaza was held at the municipal grave premises today after Johar prayers maintaining health safety guidelines and he was accorded a guard of honor.

Deputy Commissioner Anjuman Ara, District Council Chairman, Advocate Sohrab Hossain Biswas and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jasim Uddin were present during the state honour.

He was buried at Narail Municipal grave after according a guard of honor.

Meanwhile, cricketer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, MP and Kabirul Haque Mukti MP, District Awami League President Advocate Subash Chandra Bose, General Secretary and Sadar upazila chairman, Nizam Uddin Khan Nilu in separate messages of condolence, expressed profound shock at the death of Siddique Ahmed.

Earlier, a condolence meeting was held at Narail Bar Association this morning with Advocate Sayed Mahmud in the chair.
