Govt distributes over Taka 2.88cr among flood-hit people

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2020 (BSS) – The government has so far distributed over Taka 2.88 crore in cash among the flood-hit victims as over 50 lakh people have been affected by the recent devastating flood.

“The government has so far handed over Taka 2, 88,810,00 out of allocated Taka 4,27,000,00 in cash among the flood affected people, “according to a data compiled from the information provided by district administrations till August 16.

In addition to this, the government has also allocated 19,510 tonnes of rice, from which, 12,848 tonnes have been dispensed among the flood-hit people in 33 districts.

Meanwhile, Taka 1.02 crore out of allocated Taka 1.54 crore has been distributed for purchasing baby food while more than Taka 2.13 crore out Taka 3.30 crore has been handed over for procuring cattle feed.

“A total of 1,41,842 packets dry food have been distributed among the flood affected people across the country,” the data showed, adding that the government also allocated 400- bundle corrugated iron sheet and Taka nine lakh as household grant.

It also said over 7.79 lakh families marooned and 50, 14,323 people have been affected by flood while 1,051 unions and 160 upazilas went under water. Due to this situation, around 27,479 people have been taken refuge at 1,074 shelter centers in the flood-hit districts.
