Met office forecasts light to moderate rain across country
DHAKA, Aug 17, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places over the country today,” said a met office release.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The low over Jarkhand and adjoining area merged with the monsoon axis. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and thence north-eastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
Maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 33.8 degrees celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature today 24.2 degrees celsius at Teknaf.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 157millimeters (mm) at Sandwip.
The sun sets at 6.30 pm today and rises at 5.35 am tomorrow in the capital.
