Tajul for consultation with UP committees before building bridges, roads
DHAKA, Aug 16, 2020 (BSS)- Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today said all concerned should build roads,bridges and culverts after consulting with respective Upazila Parishad(UP)committees.
He said this while addressing a discussion on the design of PC girder bridge over Teesta river at Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district and bridge over Dakatia river at Faridganj upazila of Chandpur district in the conference room of local government division of the ministry here.
Mentioning that the committee can be formed with the public representative of the Upazila Parishad, Upazila Executive Officer, Upazila Engineer and others concerned, he said that the construction of roads and bridges will be approved considering the report after the committee’s scrutiny.
“This initiative will stop the construction of roads and bridges here and there in the country,” he added.
He urged all the agencies, including the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, to construct the bridges-culverts in accordance with the directives given by the government.
In that cases, all concerned have to develop proper navigation system while constructing roads and bridges considering navigation, river navigability and dredging, he said.
