34 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in Chittagong

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 16, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 34 people have tested positive
for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Chattogram district raising the total
number of coronavirus cases in the division to 15,810.

After testing samples of 431 suspected persons at the five COVID-19
laboratories, 34 positive cases were detected, the hospital sources said.

Among the fresh cases, 29 are from Chattogram city and five from different
upazilas of the district, a health official said.

The total number of infected patients has stood at 15,810 in Chattogram
district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram told BSS today.

Among the total infected patients, 11272 are the residents of the port
city and the remaining 4538 are residents of different upazilas of the
district.

“A total of 3,475 coronavirus patients have been cured so far and the
percentage of recovery rate has stood at 22.27 percent in the district,” Dr
Sheikh Fazle Rabbi added.

A total of 4912 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at different
hospitals in the port city as 3522 have recovered and 255 died.

The rest 7121 in the district including city areas are receiving
treatments from their homes through hotlines and telemedicine”, he added.
