DHAKA, Aug 16, 2020 (BSS)- Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan today said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to build a nation free from exploitation, poverty, hunger which will stand high as a self-respecting one in the world.
He stated this while addressing a discussion meeting followed by a doa-mahfil organized by the Ministry of Railways and Bangladesh Railway at Rail Bhaban here as the chief guest on the occasion of National Mourning Day.
Bangabandhu and his family were killed on August 15, 1975 to dispute the war of liberation, he said, adding that he(Bangabandhu) was killed after independence while he was involved in rebuilding the war-torn country.
He urged the officers and employees of the railways to cherish the ideals of Bangabandhu to take the railways forward and devote themselves to serve the people.
